Real Madrid transfer news: Mbappe expects a new offer

Paris Saint-Germain striker Kylian Mbappe expects Real Madrid to resume their interest in him in the coming weeks.

Los Blancos have made no secret of their desire to run a deal for the French superstar, although Mbappe’s involvement in Euro 2020 and Real’s ongoing financial worries have seen talk of a drag.

Mbappe has only one year left on his deal in the French capital, and without any news of a renewal of the contract, he will be free to talk to other clubs at the turn of the year.

Although they are available on a free transfer in less than six months, Real are convinced they want to secure Mbappe’s signing this summer, and AS reports that the French international expects them to make a new offer in the coming weeks.

Mega-money deals would always be difficult to knock out this summer given the impact the coronavirus has had on clubs’ finances, and this one would be no different.

PSG are said to demand 150 million euros (128 million pounds) for their talisman – even though he had less than 12 months to run on his deal – which is a figure that Real would fight for.

Mbappe has already informed the Ligue 1 clothes that he wants to leave the club and that a renewal of the contract seems very unlikely. All that remains to be seen is whether Los Blancos is coughing up cash to try to sign him now or wait until next year.

The 22-year-old is believed to have been offered a contract by PSG that would see his salary rise to € 37 million a year (£ 31.5 million), while Real can not offer more than € 25 million a year (£ 21.3m).

Despite the big difference, Mbappe obviously has his heart set on moving away from the club – it’s just a waiting game to see if a change takes place now or in the future.

The report adds that if Mbappe is still in the PSG squad for their first competitive match of the season against Lille on August 1, they will no longer offer offers and he will remain at the club until next summer.
