The Seattle Sounders are unbeaten in their previous four games, 8-3 during that time. The team has also fallen from first place in the Western Conference behind Sporting KC. Both teams have 58 points, but Kansas City holds the tiebreak.

Raul Ruidiaz, Leo Chu and Will Bruin are all hesitant to play in Monday’s match. Head coach Brian Schmetzer said Jordan Morris will play in the game, his first act since tearing his ACL with Swansea City at the end of February. Morris ‘last MLS appearance was in Sounders’ 3-0 MLS Cup loss to Columbus Crew on December 12, 2020.

After a 2-0 loss to Sporting KC on Wednesday, LA Galaxy is currently in 7th place in the Western Conference with 46 points. Galaxy is just one point ahead of 8th place Real Salt Lake and two ahead of ninth place LAFC.

Head coach Greg Vanney confirmed that Chicharito will play in Monday’s match and that he trained on Friday afternoon after the Mexican star missed last week’s match against Sporting KC. Chicharito’s return provides a brief injury report for Galaxy, with only Jorge Villafana hesitant after missing the previous six matches with a bruise.

Seattle: Free; O’Neill, Arreaga, Gomez, Medranda, Atencio; Paulo, A. Roldan, Morris; C. Roldan, Montero

LA Galaxy: Bond; Hamalainen, Williams, DePuy, Araujo, dos Santos; Raveloson, Grandsir, Vazquez; Cabral, Chicharito

Two of the most successful clubs in MLS since the Sounders joined the league in 2009, LA Galaxy has an advantage of 14-11-10 in the 35 meetings between the teams through the ages. Seattle has won both previous games this season, 3-0 in Seattle on May 2 and 2-1 in Carson, California, on June 19.

Although the last few weeks have been tough for the Sounders, this is still a team with a legitimate chance to get to the MLS Cup. If Seattle wants to get back in shape for the playoffs, it must start Monday night against Galaxy. For LA, all points would go a long way to extending the cushion above the playoff line and ahead of Real Salt Lake and LAFC when the season ends. But Sounder’s talent along with Morris’ return home should benefit Seattle.

Prediction: Seattle Sounders 2-1 LA Galaxy
