The 2021 Ballon d’Or ranking in its entirety

Lionel Messi lifted his seventh Ballon d’Or on Monday night and received a total of 613 votes.

Voters were asked to name their five best candidates to win the Ballon d’Or, where each player on their shortlist received 6, 4, 3, 2 and 1 point respectively.

Messi ended up on the top list with over 600, which left him away from second-placed Robert Lewandowski, who landed a more than respectable figure of 580.

In third place came Chelsea’s Jorginho, who with 460 points was on his own island, ahead of Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema (239) and Frenchman N’Golo Kante (186) in fourth and fifth.

Cristiano Ronaldo from Manchester United landed in sixth place with 178, finishing comfortably ahead of the only other player to break the 100 mark, Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah (121).

Among the top ten were Kevin De Bruyne (73), Kylian Mbappe (58) and Gianluigi Donnarumma (36)

At the other end of the list, a draw in 29th place, Luka Modric and Cesar Azpilicueta did not manage to get a single vote each.
