The Donyell Malen transfer is being implemented for EUR 34 million

Borussia Dortmund close in on the signing of PSV Eindhoven and Dutch winger Donyell Malen, with the player believed to have traveled to Germany over the weekend for medical treatment and the clubs are ironing out the finer details of the transfer.

Malen spent time in the youth ranks of both Ajax and Arsenal, but he made his senior breakthrough after joining PSV 2017. The 22-year-old has played a more prominent role with each passing season, scoring 27 goals in all 2020/21 competitions.

Having since also impressed the Netherlands at Euro 2020, Dortmund are now taking Malen to the Bundesliga, where it is hoped he will fill Jadon Sancho’s shoes.

Dutch reports shared by Voetbal Primeur suggest that the announcement of a deal of up to 34 million euros is imminent. There will be an initial guarantee fee of € 30 million, supplemented by an additional € 4 million in addition, with fairly nominal sales fees to PSV to both Ajax (1.5%) and Arsenal (1%).

Super agent Mino Raiola is also expected to secure a reduction in the transfer fee, but it is now said to be “much smaller” than the 30% report previously reported.

Malen was not the only PSV player to impress at the European Championships 2020. Wingback Denzel Dumfries made a name for himself on the biggest stage and scored goals in group victories over Ukraine and Austria.

The 25-year-old, who joined PSV from Heerenveen 2018, is also represented by Raiola and is believed to be closing in on a high-profile switch to Inter. The Serie A champions need a replacement for Achraf Hakimi after his recent move to Paris Saint-Germain.

Reports in Italy have suggested that the proposed Dumfries deal has been delayed as Inter prefer an option loan to buy and PSV are not interested in the idea.
