Tottenham name Antonio Conte’s coaching staff

Tottenham have confirmed six appointments to new manager Antonio Conte’s coaching staff, including a permanent first team role for Ryan Mason.

Mason briefly served as interim head coach at the end of last season following the dismissal of Jose Mourinho but returned to his previous role as head of player development at the youth level.

The 30-year-old former Spurs midfielder will now be a permanent member of Conte’s backroom team and is the only one of the six appointments promoted from within.

The club has also confirmed that Conte and his incoming staff have all received relevant work permits in time to take care of Thursday’s Conference League match against Vitesse Arnhem.

Cristian Stellini joins as Conte’s assistant manager. He first worked with the new Spurs boss at Juventus a decade ago and was part of the staff at Inter last season when the club won Serie A.

Gianluca Conte is Antonio’s brother and longtime confidant. He comes as Spurs’ new technical and analytical coach and has worked under his brother since 2009, during which time he took periods at Bari, Siena, Juventus, Chelsea, Inter and the Italian national team.

Conte has long placed emphasis on the physical side of the game and demanded high intensity from his teams. As such, he has brought three training coaches to north London – Costantino Coratti, Gian Piero Ventrone and Stefano Bruno.

All three have long-term working relationships with Conte. Coratti and Bruno have both been part of his coaching staff in the past, while Ventrone first worked with player Conte as a fitness and fitness coach at Juventus in the mid-1990s.
