Tottenham and Sevilla are close to concluding a swap agreement where Bryan Gil comes to north London and Erik Lamela leaves for Spain after eight years in the Premier League.
Earlier rumors suggested that the two clubs had talked about a potential deal with Davinson Sanchez and Jules Kounde, although that deal fell through due to the recent reluctance to maintain it.
But new negotiations involving a new pair of players are now reaching a conclusion.
As reported by Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham will send 25 million euros plus additions to the deal that will end Lamela’s spell at Spurs and see Gil replace him.
Gil signed for Sevilla in 2019 but was sent out on loan to Leganes and Eibar during the 2019/20 and 2020/21 seasons. In the 21 appearances he made for Sevilla, he did twice. The 20-year-old has also made his international debut for Spain and is in their squad for the upcoming Olympics.
Lamela has been going through an extremely frustrating time in England since signing from Roma in 2013. Although there have been occasional highlights, injuries have often prevented the Argentine from building up some speed and consistency. He has only played over 30 Premier League games in one season twice for Spurs.
The wing had been marked as one of the many squad players that Tottenham need to sell this summer, and to seal an exciting forward in Gil – who has impressed in spells in Spain – should be seen as positive business.
Somewhere, the club in north London is believed to have signed a deal to sign Atalanta goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini. Technical Manager Fabio Paratici has brokered a first loan agreement that will include a call option at the end of next season.
He previously played in the championship for Aston Villa and has been named the international level for Italy, but missed the selection for their winning Euro 2020 team.
