Tottenham vs Crystal Palace postponed

Crystal Palace’s trip to Tottenham on the second day of Christmas will be postponed due to a Covid-19 outburst in the Eagles squad.

Both sides already have matches to catch up due to postponements. Spurs are three games behind after regaining their games with Burnley, Brighton and Leicester, while Palace could not face Watford in the last round of Premier League matches.

Football London reports that two of Patrick Vieira’s staff in the back room have tested positive, which adds to the cases that the manager reported on Friday.

Palace players delayed their trip to their hotel on Christmas Day before hearing the Premier League response. Official confirmation of the launch has not yet been published.

At Friday’s press conference, Vieira said: “We hope we will be okay [to face Spurs] but when you look at the number of cases around, we’re starting to get worried.

“We have had a couple of cases in our football club in recent days. We are doing our best to prevent the situation but it is worrying because the development for the coming days we do not know how it will go.

“I’m not worried about the players’ well-being [frequency of] games during this period because it has been so for years. I’m worried about their welfare regarding COVID. Players who come back from the covid situation and ask them to play with too little training are a lot for them. “
