Juventus will host Malmö on match day six in the Champions League group stage 2021/22, in the knowledge that a victory still gives them a chance to top the group and be seeded in the last sixteen draws,

Juve slipped up last time they lost 4-0 to Chelsea. Despite that setback, a place in the knockout stage is safe, but that means Chelsea are in control.

Every mistake from the Premier League side in Russia against Zenit St Petersburg offers a chance.

Malmö, European Cup finalists as early as 1979, have already been knocked out and will leave Europe completely in fourth place in Group H, whatever happens here.

Massimiliano Allegri is dealing with a not insignificant injury list. He is without Federico Chiesa, Weston McKennie, Danilo, Mattia de Sciglio and Aaron Ramsey. Dejan Kulusevski is the latest addition to that list after undergoing surgery to treat sinusitis.

Back-up goalkeeper Mattia Perin has also tested positive for covid-19 and can not be involved.

Including the season’s reverse match in Sweden in September, Juventus has won all three previous meetings with Malmö.

Earlier this season, it ended 3-0 in their favor thanks to goals from Alex Sandro, Paulo Dybala and Alvaro Morata all in the first half.

The previous matches took place in the Champions League group stage 2014/15. Juve won 2-0 at home and away, with Carlos Tevez scoring three of the four goals in both matches and Fernando Llorente scoring the second.

Despite a handful of key absences, Juve have the ability to comfortably win this match and should do so. With a seeded 16th place to play for and against an opponent already eliminated from the competition, there are no excuses for not winning.

If that will be enough to win the group, only Chelsea and Zenit can dictate.

Prediction: Juventus 2-0 Malmö
