After a massive 2-0 victory over Mexico on Friday night in Cincinnati, the US men’s national team is now traveling to Jamaica for the next round of the World Cup qualifiers.

Jamaica will look for revenge after losing 2-0 to the American side during the qualifying round in October. While the USMNT sits comfortably at the top of the table, Jamaica desperately needs a win to improve on its sixth place.

USMNT took the top spot on the Concacaf table after defeating rival Mexico 2-0 in Cincinnati. Christian Pulisic entered the game in the second half to start the scoring before Weston McKennie doubled the score for the famous “dos a cero” win.

McKennie and Miles Robinson will both serve a suspension for the Jamaica match due to yellow cards and red cards respectively. NYCFC midfielder James Sands was added to the list in their place.

Christian Pulisic is still on his way to a full recovery from an ankle injury and will probably not play the full 90 minutes for the United States.

Jamaica is currently in sixth place on the Concacaf World Cup Qualifier table with six points from seven matches. Since the loss to the United States on October 7 in Austin, Texas, the team has broken an unbeaten record.

Jamaica and West Ham United forward Michail Antonio came off the bench and scored the team’s only goal in the draw against El Salvador on Friday, his first for Reggae Boyz.

After initially not allowing any fans to the match, Jamaica allows 5,000 vaccinated fans to participate in the match against the United States.

USMNT: Steffen; Yedlin, Richards, Zimmerman; A. Robinson, Musah, Adams, Acosta, Weah; Pepi, Pulisic

Jamaica: Blake; Mariappa, Lowe, Powell, Lawrence; Williams, Grant, Bailey; Burke, Roofe, Nicholson

USMNT has a 19-3-8 advantage over the ages against Jamaica, where the first match between the two nations was played in 1988. The USA won the last competition in the series, 2-0 in Austin, Texas, last month, and has not lost to Jamaica then a 0-1 loss on June 5, 2019 in an international friendly.

While Jamaica has looked solid in their recent matches, the United States proved to be by far the best team in Concacaf after Friday night’s victory. The Americans also defeated Jamaica 2-0 just one month ago at home, and while the trip makes it a more difficult match, the crowd with limited capacity should play in favor of the USMNT. If the United States can play as they did against Mexico in the Jamaica match, they should have absolutely no problems.

Prediction: USMNT 2-0 Jamaica
