US men’s national team head coach Gregg Berhalter has announced the 25-man list for November’s decisive round of World Cup qualifiers against Mexico and Jamaica.
The American team is currently in second place on the CONCACAF table with 11 points in six matches after a tough start to the qualifiers.
Now all focus is on the upcoming matches as the USA hopes to be able to climb into the first when they play against North American rivals Mexico on November 13. USMNT will host El Tri at FC Cincinnati’s TQL Stadium before traveling to Kingston for another road test against Jamaica.
“Our focus remains on a mentality for the next match. After this window, we will be more than halfway through Octagonal, so we have a chance to position ourselves well for next year,” Berhalter said in a press release.
“When it comes to USA-Mexico, I’m excited about our players because it’s not just a match – it’s an event. This is the best of the World Cup qualifiers, and our team is ready for the challenge.”
USMNT has played 12 World Cup qualifiers, but the match against Mexico is the most anticipated and decisive so far after Berhalter’s team won the Gold Cup and Nations League titles over El Tri this summer.
Chelsea striker Christian Pulisic is back in the squad after sitting out of the October window due to injury, while Borussia Dortmund’s Gio Reyna and Barcelona full-back Sergino Dest are sidelined with hamstring and back problems respectively.
The list includes 11 current Major League Soccer players and several successful Americans playing abroad.
